On Sunday, November 16th, from 10:30 PM to 1:30 PM, AYLUS Roslyn volunteers visited CP Nassau residents at their Bayville location.
We began the day out by saying hello to all the residents since it has been a while since we have seen them. Every single day the residents will sing the good morning song and today we were just on time for it. We sang the good morning song and everyone sang their hearts out! Our next activity of the day was bowling. The residents love this game so much and every time we visit it has become a mandatory game to play. Each resident went 2-3 times and we helped guide some of them with our hands and together we took down the pins. After we finished bowling we decided to do some axe throwing. Last year around Christmas time, our organization gifted an axe throwing toy to the residents and since then they have used it so many times. One volunteer would hold up the target while another would help guide the residents hand towards the bullseye. Each resident’s aim was on point today and many of them hit the center!
Our final activity before the residents went to go eat their delicious lunch was the Wii. The residents love to play jeopardy on the Wii so we brought it out for them and we loaded up a game. Each resident answered a question and it didn’t matter if they got it right or wrong because it was so fun just to play with them! In the end we still beat all of the other players by a wide margin. After jeopardy we still had some time left before lunch so we played a few more games on the Wii. Once it was time for lunch we helped bring some of the residents up to the cafeteria so they could enjoy lunch. It was so fun and amazing to spend time with the residents and we hope to be back soon!
