AYLUS Roslyn helps out at a School of CCA of Long Island (89) on November 9th, 2025

On November 9th, 2025, volunteers from the AYLUS Roslyn Branch worked as TAs at the Chinese Cultural Association of Long Island (CCALI) from 1:30 to 5:00 pm. Throughout the day, we assisted both teachers and students with various tasks and activities.

As soon as the kids entered the classrooms, we welcomed them and helped them unpack and prepare for class. After that, we assisted the teacher with various tasks, including collecting students’ homework, escorting the kids to the bathroom, and distributing worksheets. TAs helped students who were having difficulty understanding or struggling during class. During class, we help calm down rowdy students and help take the workload off teachers by keeping the class in check and ready to learn. After class, we take the students to their respective culture classes, which offer a variety of activities, including art, martial arts, dance, yo-yo, calligraphy, and yoga. After dropping the kids off, we head straight to our classes, where we assista new set of students with their learning in their culture class. At the end of the day, we help make sure students are packed and brought back to their parents safely and full of joy.

Overall, our work as TAs can help students and teachers find it easier to participate and contribute to the class. The work that TAs were given was light, but it helped teachers with their excessive workload and alleviated some of the stress associated with it. As TAs, we helped form special bonds with our students and assisted them in overcoming problems they might have encountered throughout the day. Volunteering might have been stressful, but it was all worth it in the end with the amount of joy and memories we all made together.
