AYLUS Dix Hills Helps at LICS

On Sunday, November 9, the AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteered at the Long Island Chinese School as teaching assistants. Volunteers signed in at the front table then went to their assigned rooms, where they helped the teacher with passing out assignments and grading homework. This let the teacher teach the students more effectively as they weren’t focusing on grading homework or other tasks. Volunteers also helped in the intermediate level chess class, where the volunteers kept the students calm and made sure they stayed focused. Volunteers set up the chess boards for the students for their tournament games, confirming that pieces were set up properly and no illegal moves were made.

Because of the AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteers, students at the Long Island Chinese School had a more productive experience, and teachers had an easier time teaching students.

Volunteers: Jake Wu and Jonathan Fan
