AYLUS Oakland Gardens Partners with PS203 for a Clothing Drive (10/25/2025)

On October 25th, 2025, AYLUS Oakland Gardens held its 202nd event at PS203. During the event, we partnered with the PS203 PTA for their annual clothing drive event. The purpose of this event was to support the school through fundraising and provide donations to people in need. This event lasted from 11:30 AM to 3:00PM.

Before the event began, our members met with the PS203 PTA at the school’s flagpole entrance. There, the PTA organizers explained the setup and tasks for the day. Our members were assigned to help incoming donors by carrying their drop-off donation bags and then placing them in the designated areas near the flagpole. Donors came with various organized items, including clothes, shoes, toys, linens, backpacks, and more.

At around 1:30PM, the freight truck arrived to collect all the donations. With the help of two truck workers, some of our members transported the bags to the loading area while others helped in lifting the bags into the truck’s storage container. During this process, each bag was put on a scale for one of the PTA members to record the total weight before it was loaded. Although several members and even the truck workers were initially skeptical about fitting all of the donation bags into the truck, we managed to squeeze the bags into the container, leaving nothing behind. Due to this systematic process, we managed to complete our tasks for the day while keeping everything organized.

By the end of the clothing drive, the PS203 PTA successfully collected and transported 6,757.6 pounds of clothes and toys, breaking PS203’s previous records of 4,000 pounds. The president of the PS203 PTA even applauded our branch for our effort, noting that thanks to the collaboration with AYLUS, the clothing drive gained over a 20% increase in donations.

We would like to extend our thanks to the PS203 PTA and the freight truck workers for providing us with guidance that made this event possible! We truly appreciate this opportunity and hope to collaborate again next year. We would also like to express our gratitude to our parent advisor team for their support of our members. Finally, we would like to thank all the AYLUS Oakland Gardens members who joined us this afternoon. Your efforts not only supported PS203 in fundraising but also helped provide essentials to families in need, making a lasting impact on our community.
