Annual Molecular Mania Volunteering october 25th 2025

AYLUS Gainesville Branch — October 25, 2025
The AYLUS Gainesville Branch participated at the Annual Molecular Mania at the Oaks Mall
on Saturday, October 25th, 2025, as a part of the University of Florida’s Chemistry Outreach
program. Volunteers Daniel Wei and Jolie Huang contributed 4.5 hours of volunteer service
each.
During the event, the volunteers helped organize and lead chemistry demonstrations for
children and families throughout the Gainesville community. They guided participants
through interactive science experiments that showcased chemical reactions and everyday
applications of chemistry, inspiring curiosity about STEM learning.
Preparation time included developing experiment materials, testing demonstrations for
safety, and coordinating with UF faculty and student organizers to ensure smooth setup and
presentation. On-site, volunteers interacted with hundreds of visitors, explained scientific
concepts in simple terms, and encouraged young students to explore chemistry.
By engaging local youth in fun and educational science activities, the AYLUS volunteers
helped promote curiosity and a love of learning — reflecting AYLUS’s mission to serve the
community through educational outreach and leadership in STEM.
