On 10/25/2025, Aylus volunteers went to the Nissequogue State Park to help coordinate with volunteer coordinators to clean up the dirt and plants covering the road from 9:30am to 12:00 pm (2.5hours).
After gathering at the greenhouse, volunteers go down the road and pick up some tools like shovels, rakes, and gardening shears to clean the road and widen the road. There are many plant roots and vines inside the soil, so it’s hard to remove them and shovel the soil away. Additionally, the work location is in the woods. Participants also need to cut down trees along the road from blocking the road.
About 100 years ago, this area belonged to king’s park and this road is to the director’s house. Nowadays, the building is abandoned and becomes a hidden spot. Volunteers widen the road to allow cars driving into this road. Thus, more and more people could admire this lost building. Also, today& work is not only a great way to exercise, but also makes me feel a sense of accomplishment after seeing the tidy road surface.
