Newtown Members Volunteer at Local Library (20th)

On Saturday, 10/18/2025, members of the Newtown AYLUS Branch volunteered at the Bucks County Free Library – Levittown Branch from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. The library serves as a crucial community resource, providing access to books, educational programs, and spaces for people of all ages to learn and engage. During this session, volunteers focused on two important tasks: organizing the library’s book collection and cleaning the children’s section.

Volunteers worked diligently to reshelve returned books and perform shelf reading to ensure that all materials were properly arranged and easy for patrons to find. This helped create a more organized and accessible library, making it easier for visitors to navigate the shelves and find the materials they needed. In the children’s section, volunteers took time to clean and organize the toys, ensuring that the space was inviting and ready for the next group of young visitors. A clean and well-organized play area encourages families to spend more time in the library, fostering early literacy and positive learning experiences for children.

By completing these tasks, the volunteers not only improved the library’s physical environment but also allowed staff to focus more on directly assisting patrons and running programs. Their efforts contributed to creating a welcoming, efficient, and organized space for all members of the community.

Members who participated were David Soong (event leader, 2 hrs) and Edward Soong (2 hrs).
