Murrieta AYLUS Volunteers at Habitat for Humanity Senior House Preservation #48– ABWK (10/18/2025)

On October 18, 2025, AYLUS members volunteered with Habitat for Humanity to help paint a senior home as part of the Senior House Preservation event. This marked their 48th contribution to the initiative.

This project was part of Habitat for Humanity’s mission that not only improves the appearance and safety of the home but also provides seniors with a welcoming, comfortable environment.

During the event, members did the necessary preparation and painting processes. They began by carefully taping off window and door frames and covering floors with protective tarps to prevent any paint splatter or damage. These initial steps were crucial in ensuring a clean and professional finish.

Before painting began, the site supervisor conducted a detailed demonstration, showing the team how to apply paint evenly and avoid common issues such as “runs” or drips. Also, safety was a top priority. One of the supervisors gave a thorough briefing on proper ladder usage and other essential safety protocols to ensure that everyone could work confidently and responsibly.

All members carefully followed the instructions they were given, treated the house as if it were their own—a point the supervisor emphasized repeatedly—and painted patiently and with care, putting love and attention into every stroke.

By the time the painting was finished, the transformation in the home’s appearance was immediately visible, with freshly painted walls, trim, and doors that brightened the entire space. Beyond the physical improvements, the volunteers’ efforts contributed to a sense of pride and comfort for the senior residents. The experience strengthened teamwork among the members and reinforced the rewarding impact of giving back to the community.
