The Bernards PEC Program runs every Saturday morning from 9–11 a.m. in September and October. It is a program where students help peers with special needs. During the session, volunteers assisted with setting up and cleaning up the games, and helped the children participate in activities such as a ball-throwing game and a running and tagging game. After the program, many parents approached the volunteers to thank them and applaud their efforts.
The program provides a fun and supportive environment where children with special needs can play, learn, and gain confidence. For the volunteers, it offers a chance to develop empathy, patience, and leadership while forming meaningful connections with the children. These shared experiences foster a sense of community, inclusivity, and accomplishment that leaves a lasting impact on both the children and the volunteers.
