Since April 2024, the Plantation Branch of AYlus has been partnering with Project Kix and a local Chinese School to host sneaker drives to raise funds for a local wheelchair basketball team, the Fort Lauderdale Sharks. This ongoing sneaker drive has collected about 400 pairs of sneakers so far.
This past Sunday, members of AYLUS were invited to meet with the Fort Lauderdale Sharks. Members were able to watch the team practice for their upcoming matches, learn and ask questions about wheelchair basketball, and even experience playing wheelchair basketball. This experience provided a truly insightful experience for the members in seeing how people with various disabilities were able to overcome them to play such a wonderful sport. AYLUS Plantation Branch will continue to support the Fort Lauderdale Sharks.
