On Saturday, October 4th, from 12:30 pm – 3:00 pm, the AYLUS Roslyn Branch visited the North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington, where the Dragon Boat Race was being held. We partnered with GRACE to spread awareness of AYLUS and our CP Nassau volunteer program. GRACE is a non-profit organization dedicated to serve and support the Chinese American families in Roslyn. We raised awareness towards the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau, where our members visit the residents’ homes every weekend. The money we raised today will go towards supplies, arts and crafts, and more when we visit the residents at CP homes.
Our booth was filled with donated handmade goods from local pottery classes and handcrafted items from AYLUS members. Some people had visited the table just to understand what AYLUS does, while others had just dropped by to give generous donations. We were able to raise over $200, which would help fund some of our events, and were able to educate many people on what we do for CP Nassau and their residents.
We had a good conversation with many peers and adults about our program and event. Thank you to the local pottery class and all the AYLUS members who donated goods for us to sell, and thank you to all that supported us today and made the event a success.
