On Saturday, September 27th from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, AYLUS volunteers helped kids with a series of activities like sand art, clay modeling, origami, crochet, and reading. First the kids listened to stories. Victoria read “The Truth About Dragons” and Ryder read “Smiling Eyes”. After reading, Rainie helped with crochet, Jolynn taught kids how to make chickens, Rebecca and Nathan helped kids learn how to do sand art, and Andrew helped with origami. The kids also learned how to make lucky stars.
These activities help kids learn to think, develop their motor skills, and give them a chance to be creative. These activities can potentially lead them into new hobbies and reading books helps them develop new vocabulary and better memory.
