San Diego Branch Hosted the Solution for Hope Online Tutoring Class on Sep 15 – Sep 21, 2025

Coop with Libraries With Love, the AYLUS San Diego Committee kicked off the 2025-2026 Solution for Hope online classes for raising funds to build libraries in Africa. The Tutoring Class Activity continued in the week of Sep 15, 2025 – Sep 21, 2025.

The goal of tutoring classes is to help ESL students in the local area to quickly grow accustomed to communicating in English and get needed help for their schoolwork. In order to help them conquer their language problems, we’re hosting this event to have volunteers help the ESL students. The lessons will be flexible times based on the schedules of volunteers and students and be conducted on zoom. We hope that with this event we can help these ESL students adapt to their new surroundings and gain confidence!

Through this activity, AYLUS volunteers were able to teach 7 students a wide array of topics and led them through many different discussions, each one tailored to suit the student’s individual needs. Each class is a one-on-one private lesson, with volunteers specifically matched with students.

Angela Xue taught 1 on 1 Math for 2 hours on September 19, 2025.

Emily Chen taught 1 on 1 English for 2 hours on September 20, 2025.

Colin Xie taught 1 on 1 Math for 1.5 hours on September 20, 2025, and 1.5 hours on September 21, 2025.

Sofie Duan taught 1 on 1 English for 2 hours on September 20, 2025.

Yaalini Kathiravan taught 1 on 1 Math for 2 hours on September 20, 2025.

Fei-Lian Zhang taught 1 on 1 History for 2 hours on September 20, 2025.

Ji-Na Sun taught 1 on 1 Math for 2 hours on September 21, 2025.
