AYLUS Dix Hills Volunteers at Long Island Chinese School

On Sunday, September 28, from 1:30 to 4:40pm, the AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteered at the Long Island Chinese School as teaching assistants. Volunteers signed in and helped in their assigned rooms, where they assisted the teacher with tasks such as passing out assignments and grading homework. This allowed the teacher more time to teach their students. Volunteers also helped in the elective chess classes, where they split between easy, intermediate, and advanced chess classes. Volunteers kept the students calm and made sure they stayed focused. Volunteers set up the chess boards for the students for their tournament games, in which they showed an obvious improvement from their performance last week.

Because of the AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteers, students at the Long Island Chinese School had a more productive experience, and allowed teachers to more effectively teach.
