AYLUS Syosset Volunteers At Long Island Fair with CCE 9/14

On Sunday, September 14, 2025, volunteers of Syosset AYLUS Branch collaborated again with Cornell Cooperative Extension to help set up and run the Long Island Fair which is an event that is dedicated to celebrating Long Island’s legacy. In the morning, the volunteers met up around 10 o’clock and started to learn about each and individual booths in order to get a better understanding on what they were doing and promoting. There were many booths encouraging kids to learn about protecting marine life, learning how to decompose in order not to waste food, how dairy is made, and food nutrition on why each type of food is needed for our body. During the day, the volunteers were each placed in a booth and rotating, educating kids on the booth’s topic and also entertaining them. Each booth had their own activities for the kids to play like Find a Treasure in the Sandbox, Make Your Own Meal, Planting Pots, and Spin a Wheel. Additionally, there were also a lot of farm animals like cows and chickens that won Long Island Awards that allowed connection with them and families. The weather was amazing with the excitement of the fair, making it a relaxing and fun Sunday to have.
