On Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 1:30-4:30 PM, members of the AYLUS Syosset branch volunteered at the Chinese School at SUNY Old Westbury. During this volunteer session, volunteers helped to create a more efficient learning environment through supporting children in a plethora of ways. Volunteers helped students maintain their concentration and clarified the teachers instructions when students needed to. For the younger students attending classes, volunteers helped them use the bathroom, and contributed to the distribution of classwork. Volunteers were able to grade the homework of students and maintained the learning environment that teachers wanted to create. Through AYLUS, volunteers were able to accomplish their goal of creating a proper atmosphere where both children and teachers alike can ask questions and feel comfortable. This is especially imperative for a classroom because it allows for the students to have an organized train of thought and to reduce the distractions in the classroom. Not only this but students are able to create a sense of collaboration, respect, and belonging through the proper teaching environment.
