On September 20 at 12:30 PM, the AYLUS Morris Branch successfully completed a community service project in partnership with a local library, focused on promoting literacy, learning, and recreational engagement for community members of all ages. Over the course of the project, the branch collected an impressive 206 items, including books, board games, and puzzles, which were later delivered directly to the library.
The initiative began with members brainstorming how they could support the library’s ongoing mission of providing educational and recreational resources. Recognizing the library’s role as a hub of knowledge and creativity, AYLUS Morris members organized a collection drive that encouraged contributions from friends, neighbors, and the broader community. To maximize outreach, members spread the word through flyers, conversations, and social media, inviting donations that would enrich the library’s collection and benefit countless visitors.
Throughout the collection period, AYLUS members dedicated time to organizing, sorting, and preparing the donations to ensure everything was in good condition. The items ranged from children’s storybooks and young adult novels to family board games and interactive puzzles. This diverse collection is expected to support both educational development and community bonding, offering library patrons opportunities for entertainment, collaboration, and continued learning.
When the donations were delivered to the library on September 20, staff members expressed gratitude and enthusiasm for the contribution. The items will be cataloged and made available to library users in the coming weeks, ensuring that the impact of this project will be long-lasting.
Through this initiative, the AYLUS Morris Branch not only strengthened its relationship with the local library but also reinforced its commitment to serving the community. By mobilizing resources and engaging local families, the branch demonstrated how youth leadership can create meaningful and sustainable contributions to community development.
