On the morning of August 23rd, two members, He Ni and Siwei Li, participated in their very first dragon boat training session at the lake near 13D in Corona, New York, as preparation for the upcoming race on October 4th.
Since it was their first time on a dragon boat, they were not yet fully familiar with the paddling techniques or rhythm. However, through communication and persistence, they gradually found coordination and began to move in sync. As the boat steadily glided across the lake, both participants could clearly feel the strength that teamwork brought to the activity.
This session was not only a valuable physical training experience but also a demonstration of the spirit of “rowing together as one.” The importance of synchronization and mutual support thus became evident. The training laid a solid foundation for the weeks ahead, boosted confidence, and reflected the AYLUS volunteers’ willingness to take initiative and prepare with dedication. Both participants look forward to improving further and performing well at the official race on October 4.
