On August 30th, 2025, AYLUS members volunteered with Habitat for Humanity to help paint a senior home in need.
This project was part of Habitat for Humanity’s mission to improve living conditions and bring comfort to community members through safe, well-maintained housing.
Late August in California can bring extreme heat, but despite the challenging weather, members got out of their cozy beds early on a weekend morning to dedicate their time to serving the community. As usual, members were carefully prepared the work area before the paint. They taped off the window frames, door frames, covered the floors with tarps to prevent any paint stains. After the preparation work, the supervisor of Habitat provided a professional painting demonstration, explaining techniques to avoid “runs”, one of the supervisor also gave important safety instructions, such as how to properly use ladders.
With the preparations done, members eagerly picked up their brushes and rollers. Working side by side, they turned the dull, weathered walls into fresh, vibrant surfaces. The slow transformation of the home not only brightened the building but also lifted the spirits of everyone involved, making the hard work under the hot sun feel all the more rewarding.
