On August 24th, 2025, AYLUS Chapel Hill Branch members handcrafted developmental hearts for newborns at WakeMed and heart pillows and origami pieces for patients. For hours, our volunteers worked with dedication and compassion, meticulously crafting beautiful origami pieces, heart shaped pillow and developmental hearts. Each creation was made with love, as everyone aimed to bring a moment of comfort and joy to those enduring the challenges of sickness.
We believe these thoughtful gifts will provide not only a visual reminder of kindness but also a source of hope and strength for the recipients. In a world that can often feel overwhelming, our hope is that these small tokens of support will make a meaningful impact, brightening their days and offering a sense of connection and comfort.
Volunteers who participated in this event were Leah Yang (6 hours), Alwin Liu (6 hours), Eric Sun (6 hours), Andrew Zhao (6 hours), Lucy Wang (6 hours), Owen Xie (4 hours) and Grace Gao (6 hours).
