On the evening of August 21 at 6:00 p.m., members of the AYLUS Morris Branch continued their ongoing commitment to service by supporting the local United Methodist Church through a monthly food drive. This initiative reflects the branch’s dedication to addressing food insecurity in the local community and ensuring that families in need have access to nutritious meals. Each month, volunteers from AYLUS Morris Branch collect, organize, and deliver essential food items to assist with the church’s distribution efforts, reinforcing the spirit of compassion and generosity that strengthens community ties.
For this month’s drive, AYLUS members gathered 36 pounds of canned goods and non-perishable staples, including vegetables, soups, beans, pasta, and rice. The donations were carefully sorted and packaged to prepare for delivery. On August 21, members worked together to load and transport the food to distributor house of the Chatham United Methodist Church to ensure timely distribution to local families and individuals in need.
This consistent monthly effort has become a meaningful tradition for the AYLUS Morris Branch. Volunteers take part in every stage of the project, from encouraging donations across neighborhoods, to managing the collection process, to coordinating deliveries. The experience not only benefits those receiving food assistance but also teaches AYLUS members the importance of teamwork, leadership, and empathy in community service.
