Aylus Great Neck Branch Volunteer State Park August 16, 2025 (44th)

On August 16, 2025, we participated in a volunteer activity organized by the Aylus Great Neck Branch. We traveled to the Valley Garden in Bethage State Park to remove invasive plants to protect the native ecosystem. This experience gave us a profound understanding of the ecological threat posed by invasive species and the importance of community conservation efforts.
We worked from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, carefully removing invasive plants using tools such as gloves and sickles. We took special care to avoid harming plants that benefit the ecosystem, such as sunflowers.
This volunteer activity was a truly meaningful experience, and it deepened my understanding of the ecological harm posed by invasive species such as cornflowers and mugwort. Through our collective efforts, we contributed to the restoration of important green spaces and the support of native ecosystems. Such actions are crucial to maintaining biodiversity and protecting the vitality of natural areas.
