On the 9th of August, 2025, members of the Aylus Great Neck branch started an event in the multipurpose room in order to engage with participants while also informing Asian culture. The event started off with AYLUS members Nathan Li, Goldman, and Meixin Ding reading the books “Why We Eat Fried Peanuts,” “Piper Chen Sings,” and “The Blue Bowl” respectively. After the volunteers finished reading, the children participated in a variety of handcrafting activities. These included crocheting, led by member Rainie Cheng; origami, led by member Andrew Li; and crafting with paper plates, led by members Meixi Ding and Goldman.
The event was highly productive, with minimal incidents occurring and instructors, who alongside having fun, taught lessons about creativity, coordination, and dexterity. The event was an overall great time thanks to both participants and AYLUS members who contributed their time and effort.
