On August 4th, 2025, three members from the AYLUS Roslyn branch volunteered at CP Nassau to help pack golf bags from 9:30am to 11:30. These bags go to a fundraising event and are given to golfers. Inside the bags there were many sorts of snacks like candy, chips, cookies, granola bars, and peanuts. There were also golf balls, giftcards, and golfing advertisements.
We got to work as soon as we arrived. We thought it would be a good idea to make an assembly line, which is basically where one person is assigned to a certain station and when a bag comes to them, they have to put their assigned object in the bag and pass it to the next person. This is an efficient way to produce a lot of bags in a short amount of time. It is much faster than having one person in charge of one bag. We also didn’t have to walk around in an assembly line, which made things a lot easier.
After a while, things started to run out. At first it was the cookies, then the peanuts, and eventually all the snacks ran low. We put the completely filled bags in their own group, so the people at the fundraising event can distinguish between the filled bags and the not filled bags. When things started to get really empty because everything ran out, we put them in a separate pile and we called them “trash bags” because they had to go into a trash bag since all the boxes that had the bags were also full. The trash bags only had a few items in it, such as a granola bar, a gift card, and a golf advertisement. When we ran out of everything, we only had a few completely empty bags. We also saw a resident from CP Bayville. We were so happy to see each other somewhere else.
It was a great event. We worked as a team and coordinated with each other. We hope the golf event will go smoothly.
