On the pleasant evening of August 5th, 2025, between 6 and 7 pm, the GN Station Library witnessed a heartwarming scene of knowledge – sharing. A team of high – achieving high school students, driven by enthusiasm for helping others, embarked on a fulfilling tutoring journey.
Yucheng Fu took on the unique task of bridging the gap between financial concepts and language. Facing an aunt with limited English proficiency, Yucheng patiently broke down stock – related vocabulary, using simple examples and gestures to ensure understanding, turning financial jargon into accessible knowledge.
Rebecca Xu, with a keen sense of responsibility, stepped in to assist a child’s family by distributing homework. In the process, Rebecca also took a moment to answer the child’s curious questions, turning a routine task into a small but valuable learning interaction.
Baiyu Chen dived deep into the intricacies of English grammar. Focusing on various tenses, Baiyu designed interactive exercises and used real – life scenarios to help a junior high – school girl grasp the differences and usages, making the often – daunting topic of tenses a manageable and even interesting learning experience.
Brian Zhang, with a calm and patient demeanor, tackled a young learner’s math difficulties. Whether it was explaining operations or solving word problems, Brian broke down each step, ensuring the child not only got the right answers but also understood the reasoning behind them.
Linzi Yeung dedicated time to nurturing basic literacy. By using picture books, Linzi helped a child recognize characters and develop an initial love for reading, laying a solid foundation for future learning.
As the tutoring session drew to a close, it was evident that this hour was more than just academic instruction. The tutors, through their diverse efforts, not only imparted knowledge but also built connections, fostered confidence in the learners, and gained a profound sense of achievement. For everyone involved, it was a reminder of the power of sharing knowledge and the joy that comes from helping others grow.
