On Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., members of the AYLUS Great Neck Branch spent a meaningful afternoon volunteering at Kings Point Park. The weather was sunny and comfortable—perfect for outdoor service. With tools in hand, our team gathered at the park, ready to contribute to the community.
We focused on two main tasks. First, we worked on the park’s baseball field, using hoes, rakes, hand trowels, and gloves to remove weeds. Volunteers spread out and carefully cleared areas around the bases, pitcher’s mound, and outfield to make the field cleaner and smoother for future games.
Next, we moved to the walking paths, which had some uneven ground. Using rakes and shovels, we leveled the paths and improved drainage to help visitors walk more safely and comfortably. The dry, firm soil made the work easier, and we quickly saw the trails becoming more walkable.
By the end of the afternoon, the baseball field looked well-maintained and the walking paths much improved. It was a rewarding experience that helped beautify the park and reminded us of the value of community service.
