Bellaire AYLUS volunteers at the Houston Food Bank warehouse on 7/27 from 9 am to 11 pm

The Houston Food Bank (HFB) is a non-profit organization based in Houston, Texas. Its mission is to reduce food insecurity (limited and/or inconsistent access to nutritious food) in Houston by providing meals for less fortunate families by utilizing donations from members of the community and partners such as HEB and Fiesta.

At this event, volunteers worked on the Senior Meals project at the HFB. This project sought to provide seniors with prepackaged meals in order to reduce financial pressure in their situation by solving the issue of food insecurity, which allows them to focus on obtaining other necessities in life that require their attention. By the end of 2 hours, volunteers contributed to the completion of 7 pallets, which contained 315 boxes, ultimately providing 8,137 meals to families.

The following members attended (2 hours): Samantha Yu, Valerie Yu, Jin Zhou
