On Saturday, July 19th, from 3:15 PM to 4:30 PM, AYLUS volunteers hosted a series of engaging activities for children at Parkville Library. The event included crafts like origami and crochet, along with reading stories to the kids. Rebecca read “I Dream of Popo” while Ryder read “Diwali in My New Home”. Rainie assisted in teaching crochet to the participants while Andrew and Jolynn were creating origami.
These activities aimed to help increase creativity, introduce new skills, and enhance important developmental areas such as attention span, hand-eye coordination, and motor skills. By providing opportunities to explore crafts and enjoy books, the program encouraged open-mindedness, sparked potential hobbies or passions, and strengthened literacy skills like vocabulary, memory, and critical thinking.
