On Monday, July 28th from 6:45 pm to 8:45 pm, my volunteer partner Zilin Baiyu and I assisted in taking Chinese calligraphy and painting courses at the station library. In this activity, we provided support for the smooth implementation of the course by assisting teachers, translating and communicating, and preparing classroom supplies. Our main responsibility is to translate and prepare calligraphy supplies, ensure smooth communication between students and teachers, and have complete tools. Before class, we prepared paper for the students and distributed brushes and ink. During class, the students demonstrated a strong passion for calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting throughout the entire learning process. They showed a strong interest in Chinese painting and were very focused on practicing painting, conscientiously completing the teacher’s requirements. Our three volunteers also maintained a highly responsible attitude throughout the entire process and were always ready to provide assistance. Through this volunteer service, we not only gained a deeper understanding of the charm of Chinese calligraphy and painting art, but also honed our communication and organizational skills. Especially in translation work, it makes us more aware of the importance of language accuracy and cultural background knowledge. At the same time, we also feel the value of volunteering in cultural dissemination.
