Syosset AYLUS volunteers at Sangha Learning Center on July 23rd

On Wednesday, July 23rd, Syosset AYLUS volunteers returned to the Sangha Learning Center for another day of creativity and discovery. The morning began with an immersive art session where participants painted Cajun wooden box drums. These percussion instruments offered a unique canvas for self-expression. First everyone got to put together a drum then they decorated their drums with vibrant colors, personal patterns, and meaningful symbols. This creative workshop promoted not only artistic skills but also teamwork and confidence. In the afternoon, excitement filled the air as a Live Marine Life Touch Tank was introduced. Participants and volunteers had the opportunity to interact with real sea creatures such as hermit crabs, clam, oyster, and even a horseshoe crab. This hands-on experience allowed everyone to learn more about marine biology, ocean ecosystems, and the importance of ocean conservation. The activity encouraged curiosity and gentle, respectful interaction with living creatures, making it a perfect combination of science and sensory exploration.
