On Friday, 25, 2025, AYLUS Oakland Gardens members came together to make chenille stem flowerpots and rings, from 7:30pm to 8:30pm, as their 178 event. Our members wanted to give people more options for our fundraiser.
Our members picked out the higher-quality chenille stems. These stems have a lot of fur that is soft and orderly. We cannot see the wires in the higher-quality stems. This part was tedious, as we only wanted the best stems. Then we folded the stems into petals. To make sure that the petals were neat and orderly, we used a round-tipped plier.
One of our members measured the chenille stems for another member to cut. Two other members took the cut stems and folded them into petals and other crafts. The parent advisors used the hot glue guns to attach them to each other, as this part can be dangerous for our members.
Today, our members learnt that teamwork and patience are very important things. We could not have this without teamwork and patience.
