On Saturday, July 19th, 2025, from 9am to 11am, the AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at Books for Development. Books for Development is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that aims to address the book shortages faced by many developing nations around the globe by shipping books to them. Books for Development has currently delivered 1.5 million books across the world and has established over 500 libraries in countries such as Belize, Guyana, Uganda, Kenya, and Malawi.
At this event, volunteers sorted books into different categories based on their genre. While sorting, they ensured that the books were in good condition. Afterwards, they boxed the books and stacked them on pallets for shipping.
6 volunteers participated in this event (2 hours): Ryan Li, Justin Wang, Jing Zhou, Nathan Fu, Andrew Chen, and Bella Chen.
