Newtown AYLUS Volunteers at FabLab Summer Camp (12th)

On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, members of the Newtown Branch of AYLUS dedicated their time from 7:45 AM to 11:45 AM volunteering at the FabLab Center (One Ivybrook Blvd Suite 190, Warminster, PA 18974, USA). FabLab is a STEAM learning center where children and youth of all ages are able to explore various technologies and skills related to science, engineering, art, and math.

Our two volunteers began the morning conversing and getting to know the campers while they were doing their morning activity. In the activity, the campers were split into two groups, half of the campers went into a group for Minecraft with one volunteer, while the other half was in a group for drones with our other volunteer. The campers in the Minecraft group spent their time building a farm, while the campers in the drone group were given challenges for their drone such as flying their drone in a zigzag. Once the activity was over, the campers had free time. During this time, the campers can build with KEVA planks, use laptops and iPads for websites such as scratch, fab maker studio, or tinkercad. After free time was over, the volunteers were again told to plug in all of the laptops and iPads.

The event was very successful, with students being satisfied with their own creations and progress. They also received enthusiastic help from our volunteers whenever there was a concern or technical issue.

Members who participated were Ryan He (Event Leader) and Daniel Tang, both for 4 hours.
