Newtown AYLUS Members Volunteer at Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (2nd)

On Friday, July 11, 2025, beginning around 9:30 and ending at 12:50, Newtown AYLUS members volunteered at TASK, Trenton Area Soup Kitchen. TASK provides meals and essential services to underserved individuals in the Trenton area, relying heavily on volunteer support to keep operations running smoothly.

AYLUS members arrived at the kitchen and got started by packing food items such as bread and pastries into takeaway bags. Afterward, they worked on assembling the main meals for those receiving take-out. Around that time, the kitchen opened to the public and approximately 30 to 40 guests came in to be served. Volunteers were tasked with delivering trays of food directly to tables, ensuring that each guest received a meal with care and attention.

Despite the hot and humid summer conditions and the absence of air conditioning, members persevered. A few volunteers had to take brief breaks to recover, and one participant was found to be under the minimum age requirement of 13. However, the team remained focused, and the event continued successfully.

Overall, the event had a positive impact on the community and was a moderate success. All guests were fed and cared for, and the volunteers demonstrated responsibility, teamwork, and resilience. Their service helped ease food insecurity in the area and contributed to a welcoming atmosphere at TASK.

AYLUS members who participated are: Aiden Ye (3 hours 20min – Event Leader), Lucas Wu (3 hours), and Henry Wang (3 hours 20min).
