On July 13, the Great Neck AYLUS Branch participated in a volunteer event at Kings Point Park. The park’s forest trails, which are frequently used, had suffered noticeable damage from vehicle activity and walking. As a result, many parts of the trails had developed deep ruts and uneven surfaces, making them difficult and potentially unsafe for visitors to navigate.
Our primary objective was to help restore these trails to a safer and more walkable condition. Working with tools, we helped to fill in the damaged areas with nearby soil. After working for around 2 hours we were able to make steady progress. By redistributing soil and smoothing out the paths, we significantly improved several key sections of the trail system.
