On July 10, 2025, Pearland volunteers led a bucket drumming lesson at GiGi’s Playhouse Sugar Land, with six students participating in the interactive session.
The class began with a quick review of basic drumming techniques, including different drum sounds and proper hand positions. Students then practiced rhythm patterns such as stop-and-go beats and heavy versus light strikes. These foundational concepts were reinforced through fun and engaging activities like the Traffic Light Game and a “Follow the Leader” rhythm challenge.
To wrap up the session, students had the opportunity to drum along to songs of their choice, bringing a personalized and creative element to the experience. The activity promoted not only musical expression but also coordination, listening skills, and confidence.
