On July 8, 2025, Pearland volunteers led an engaging session on travel preparation at the LSA SMILE Summer Camp, designed to help campers with special needs gain awareness of travel-related skills and experiences. Two volunteers who had recently returned from a vacation in China shared their firsthand experiences, giving a lively presentation about the cities they visited, including cultural highlights and famous tourist attractions.
Their stories not only sparked curiosity and excitement among the campers but also helped introduce concepts like planning a trip, navigating airports, and learning about different cultures. The interactive session provided a meaningful way to build awareness of the world beyond their local community.
Later that day, volunteers also assisted staff at the Special Needs Caring Center by supporting lessons in basic computer skills and reading, offering individualized attention to help participants develop confidence and essential academic tools.
