On Saturday, July 5th, AYLUS Syosset went to the CCE Nassau farmer’s market. As usual, volunteers started setting up at around 8:30 in the morning in preparation for the opening at 9AM. Volunteers assisted with setting up the main CCE tents, which included the information table, the master gardener’s tent, and the nutritionist’s tent. We also helped set up TasteNY, a vendor that is a part of the farmer’s market but often doesn’t get as much attention as the other vendors because they are located inside the building. They offer a variety of different goods including perishables such as milks and cheeses. Volunteers not only guided visitors to the TasteNY stand, but also gave them an opportunity to choose what products they would like to see more of by placing a handful of beans in their preferred cup. Additionally, the CCE farmer’s market held its first ever raffle where every single vendor contributed an item of their choice, and volunteers helped by spreading the word and getting people to enter. We can’t wait to announce the winner next week!
