AYLUS Roslyn Volunteers at the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County’s Group Home (48th) on July 5th, 2025

On Saturday from 1:00-4:00pm, the AYLUS Roslyn branch members volunteered at the CP Nassau Group Home in Bethpage. We started off with an art project. Using stencils and markers, we assisted the residents in crafting customized wooden fans, unleashing their creativity through colorful designs. After that was finished, the residents worked on puzzles. We helped point out certain pieces and gave hints but for the most part the residents successfully completed it on their own. Next, we baked chocolate chip cookies. Using ingredients we brought, we measured out the dough with the residents and rolled them into balls on the baking pan. While we waited for the cookies to bake, we helped residents create “Summer in a Bottle” using stickers and gemstones. Despite a little
confusion with the oven temperature, the cookies were eventually completed and cut into different sizes to meet the resident’s mealtime instructions. Afterwards, we played a few rounds of UNO with the residents, helping them with the cards, and took some of the residents on a walk. Interacting with the residents was a transformative experience for all our volunteers and seeing how happy the residents are really highlighted the importance and impact of our mission. In the future, the AYLUS Roslyn branch will strive to do more and help more people in need.
