Great Neck Branch Volunteer State Park at 6/28/2025 (39th)

On Saturday, June 28, Aylus volunteers participated with others at Bethpage State Park during 9:00 to 11:00am. The total volunteer time for this event was two hours.

First, the Aylus volunteers gathered at the main greenhouse area, where the volunteer coordinator welcomed the team and explained the day’s tasks. The main objective was to transplant seedlings into larger containers to promote healthier growth. This process allows the young plants to develop stronger roots and have enough space to continue thriving.

Volunteers carefully removed each seedling from its original pot, loosened the soil around the roots, and gently placed them into larger containers filled with nutrient-rich soil. Throughout the process, they followed specific spacing and labeling instructions to ensure the plants would continue to grow successfully in their new environment. This work supports the park’s ongoing conservation efforts and helps sustain local biodiversity by preparing plants for eventual outdoor planting.

Bethpage State Park provides a safe habitat for a variety of plant and animal species. Through their effort today, the volunteers contributed to the long-term health of the park’s ecosystem. The experience was both educational and rewarding, allowing participants to directly support environmental sustainability.

Members who participated include:

Sumeng Liu (2h), Yingxiang Liu (2h), Felicia Liu (2h), Yuya Liu (2h), Yangzilin Hu (2h), Shiyi Ji (Leo) (2h)
