During June 27th, 2025, 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., AYLUS Oakland Gardens Members made balloons flowers for a graduating child as their 167th event. Their mom heard about us from a friend and wanted us to help them make balloon flowers for their 3 year old child, who is graduating from 3-k.
Their mom asked us to make a bouquet of balloon flowers for their child. However, we informed them that because of the summer heat, the balloons are more likely to pop and will lose their shine. We offered to make chenille stem flowers instead, which are flowers made from pipe cleaners. The mother then claimed that their child preferred balloons, so we complied.
Our members spent more than an hour making a bouquet of flowers consisting of multi-colored tulips and lilacs. As a surprise, we included a balloon bunny to give to the 3 year old. When we finished, we delivered the flowers to the kid and the mom. It was a 15 minute walk to their house, but we thought it was worth it. We were very excited to see the smiles on their faces.
