SMILE 4 Special Needs (#224): Bucket Drumming for All (#32) at GiGi’s Playhouse Sugar Land on June 26, 2025

On June 26, 2025, Pearland volunteers led a bucket drumming lesson at GiGi’s Playhouse Sugar Land. Six students participated in the session, including several who had attended last year’s drumming series.

The class began with a brief review of basic drumming techniques, including different drum sounds and hand positions. Students practiced rhythm patterns such as stop-and-go and heavy versus light beats. These concepts were reinforced through engaging activities like the Traffic Light game and a “Follow the Leader” rhythm challenge.

To wrap up the session, students had the opportunity to drum along to songs of their choice, adding a personalized and creative touch to the learning experience.

Volunteers: Zoey Dou (2.5 hrs); Aila Jiang (0.5 hr)
