On Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM EST, members of the Newtown Branch of AYLUS (Alliance of Youth Leaders in the United States) volunteered at the Bucks County Free Library – Levittown Branch, providing valuable support that enhanced the library experience for visitors of all ages.
Volunteers assisted with reshelving returned books and performed shelf reading to ensure materials were correctly ordered and accessible. These efforts maintained the overall organization of the library, allowing patrons to locate resources more efficiently and independently—contributing to a more enjoyable and productive visit for all.
In addition, volunteers helped clean and organize toys in the children’s section, keeping the space welcoming and safe for young visitors. A well-maintained children’s area supports early learning, encourages family engagement, and strengthens the library’s role as a vital community space.
By handling these responsibilities, volunteers enabled library staff to focus more on patron assistance, programming, and daily operations. Their behind-the-scenes efforts played a key role in supporting the library’s mission to promote literacy, learning, and community connection.
David Soong and Edward Soong each contributed 2 hours of service during this session as representatives of the AYLUS Newtown Branch.
