On Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm EST, 4 members of the AYLUS (2 from Roslyn branch and 2 from Syosset branch) visited C.P. Nassau residents at its Bayville location.
C.P. Nassau has been supporting many individuals with disabilities for over 75 years. Its Bayville location is a care facility, currently serving approximately. 50 patients at the site.
AYLUS Roslyn and Syosset branches have been consistently visiting C.P. Nassau Bayville monthly. The reoccurring visits have estabilished a friendship bond between the residents and the attended AYLUS members. Every time AYLUS visits, it brings smiles from the CP Nassau Bayville residents and similar heartwarming feels brought to AYLYS attended members.
At today’s visit, accompanied with Bayville facility’s the recreational therapist, AYLUS attended members were able to have the fun-filled activities: Bowling, Dart Games and Wii games of Jeopardy and family game night. Family game night of Wii (similar as the board games: Operation and Jenga) was quite challenging at the beginning as it was not a usual game we played. But we managed to get through and enjoy it later. Both residents and AYLUS members were happy we were able to get through the challenges.
Though we were sad to learn that couple residents passed away, we were also glad to see some new faces and that all of the residents were having stable and gradually improving mobility while attending the game and happy that, with our team efforts, the residents were having fun with us and each other like a friend gathering.
Overall, this experience brought motivation to and made meaningful of our volunteering hours in CP Nassau. We are looking forward to the next month’s visit.
