Newtown AYLUS Members Volunteer at Rolling Harvest Food Rescue

Reported by Ivan Lee

On Saturday, 6/21/25, 7 members of Newtown AYLUS dedicated their time from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM to help the Rolling Harvest Food Rescue (67 Pleasant Valley Rd, Titusville, NJ). Rolling Harvest is a collection of farmers and volunteers that provide fresh, organic produce to local communities in need.

Members split into groups doing various jobs at the local farm. They first tackled weeding to ensure that crops stayed healthy and productive. Volunteers carefully removed weeds by hand in order to help crops thrive. They then moved on to collecting onion and garlic scapes. The removal of the scapes not only promotes proper crop growth but is also used as produce for distribution to communities in need.

The event was highly successful, with members being proud of the work they had done. AYLUS volunteers were able to help the farmers run efficiently and productively, ensuring that local neighborhoods would get the support they needed.

Members who participated were Ivan Lee (Event Leader) for 1.5 hours, Justin Peng, Kylee Guo, Sarah Xue, Eric Chen, Ryan Yuan, and David Soong, each for 2 hours.
