On Tuesday June 10th, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, five AYLUS Great Neck volunteers assisted students in elementary and middle school with their homework and/or extracurricular assignments at the Great Neck Station Library. The volunteers present were Linzi Yeung, Ivy Li, Brian Zhang, Rebecca Xu, and Anhang Lu. Ivy helped a fifth grade student with reading an article about asthma and completing a worksheet associated with it. Similarly, Linzi helped a sixth grade student with science. Anhang worked with a third grader and assisted him with competition level math problems. Brian oversaw a second grade student with her math workbook, explaining concepts such as rounding and the commutative property as clear as possible. Rebecca aided a fourth grader with math homework as well. She taught him how to work with statistical data in box plots and dot plots. Together, our volunteers did their best to help their tutees understand their subjects. The volunteering event promoted the learning and caring in the community.
