On June 7th 2025, members of the Great Neck AYLUS branch held the 21st AAPI event at the Great Neck Main Library to help engage younger children in different crafts and fun activities. It started with 3 volunteers reading AAPI themed books to the children. Goldman read The Gift of Ramadan by Rabiah York Lumbard, Rebecca read Watercress by Andrea Wang, and Ryder read When Lola Visits The by Michelle Sterling to the kids. Next, Rainie helped teach crochet and made tiny penguins. Andrew, Goldman and Jolynn created origami bears, bunnies, robots, sharks, owls, sharks, and stars for the kids to both learn and bring back home. Other crafts included the Chinese Lucky stars, of which the children found interesting. There were also coloring sheets and markers available. In total there were six members present today to help make the event fun for children. We thank everyone who came to this event!
