On the first of June, from 1:30 to 4:30, two AYLUS volunteers allocated 3 hours of their time to help out at the Long Island Chinese School located at SUNY Old Westbury.
The volunteers spent three hours watching over their designated classes. In the classrooms the teachers taught students chinese stories, watched movies and presented projects. In the back each volunteer aided in the work, by wiping boards, tutoring students and watching the class. This class marked the second to last class of the semester, so volunteers helped watch over students taking finals. Later, classrooms handed out awards and participated in celebration for the students’ hard work and effort.
Thanks to the efforts of AYLUS volunteers they were able to make learning at the Long Island Chinese School fun and an interactive experience for students and parents alike.
