Murrieta AYLUS Helps Local Food Bank (75th) (5/26/2025)

Reported by Aiying Lu :

On May 26th, 2025, Murrieta AYLUS members helped their local food bank.
Members finally had a break because school was out for Memorial Day so they went to help the food bank. Turns out, only 3 staff people and the members were there to help because of the holiday. Members started by sorting breads and pastries, which went by quickly, before spending most of the time peeling corn. There were 7 boxes of corn, and members carefully peeled away the moldy outer layer of the corn, leaving the clean pieces in a new box. When members finished, they cleaned up anything that fell before helping unload boxes of food from the truck. Then, half of the members were directed to the dry foods area to help bag grapefruits. Members bagged 3 carts worth of grapefruits before helping with the last load of food boxes before calling it a day.
