Mclean Branch Burke Lake Environmental Clean Up 05/31/2025

Reported by Sarah Tao

The AYLUS Mclean Branch participated in Burke Lake Environmental Clean Up on May 31st, from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

In the Fairfax area, one of the biggest environmental parks and lake is reserved at Burke Lake. It homes an abundant amount of species and contains beautiful trails and parks that the community can enjoy. However, it also has many picnic areas where lots of trash is built up inadvertently in the area, sparking our job to clean them up. During this time, we walked through one of the trails to pick up any trash that we noticed. Additionally, we also targeted the areas that many people have picnics, finding lots of bottle caps, small pieces of plastic, and even objects that were unexpected (like a torn soccer ball). Overall, we were able to pick up nearly 6 bags of trash, making a difference at this beautiful park.
